November 5th is right around the corner! Here are a few bits of information regarding absentee ballots….
- The Secretary of State’s Office of Vermont will be mailing absentee ballots to all registered voters.
- If you were registered to vote by 9/9, you will receive an absentee ballot to the mailing address in your voter registration.
- If you registered to vote or changed your mailing address after 9/9, please reach out to the Clerk’s Office so we can issue you an absentee ballot once they arrive. You may be required to sign an Affidavit of No Ballot Cast. (see below)
- Absentee Ballots are expected to be mailed by the end of September. If you do not see your absentee ballot by mid-October, please contact the Clerk’s Office.
- You may return your ballot by mail, or drop it off at the clerk’s office, or show up on November 5th to deliver it in person.
- You are not required to the use the mailed ballot. You may vote in person two ways – you can bring your ballot to the polls and use it to vote or you can get a ballot at the polls but will be required to sign an Affidavit of No Ballot Cast if an absentee ballot has been issued to you and you have not returned that ballot.
What is an Affidavit of No Ballot Cast? – This form is for a voter to swear, under penalty of perjury, that they will not cast 2 ballots in an election.
Feel free to call into the Clerk’s Office with any questions and thank you for voting!!!!
